Rezumat:  The Non Pre-thinking Category in Balthasar’s Christology. Starting from Revelation, in the present study we shall deal with what Hans Urs von Balthasar identifies to be Jesus’ self-awareness and its content. From the Biblical data, mainly form the Gospel according to John, the author states that the unique and particular of Christ’s awareness consists in the mission given to him by the Father. Whether in the Prophets, where we can discover such mandate, it is to be found related to a correspondence, as referring to Jesus, in Him coincidence is verified. Balthasar make use of Aquinas’ idea in stating that the Father mission fulfills in history, has got a historical meaning. The bases of proceeding (processio) are in eternity. Even though Jesus’ life is subjected to human rules, there still is something worth mentioning; from Balthasar’s analysis we understand that the Jesus’ awareness of his mission is non pre-thought. This reality allows to maintain the mandate in a certain out-of-time tension requiring a within-time incarnation. The Son accepts the mission given by His Father as He is assisted by the Holy Spirit, who, in the period of incarnation, has got a reversed role in the Trinity. He becomes the living unity factor between the Father and the Son made flesh.
