Rezumat:  Matrimony andfamily were among Márton Áron’s favourite subjects. One couldn’t even imagine hisservices done among the faithful of his diocese without some advice on matrimony asconcluding thoughts. We can find in the families living according God’s will thefundamental condition for the healthy development of the human person and even ofthe whole society. The bishop strongly emphasized the ancient character of thisinstitution: ”The family is the very first ancient community where the life of humanitycomes from (...). The health of the family, its moral purity, its solid framework, theunspoilt parental authority, the good relationship between husband and wife, betweenparent and child, the integrity and the stability of the most intimate human ’communityof love’ –, insure altogether the preliminary conditions needed for the creation ofhealthy, trustworthy and creative people and viable nations.” Márton Áron statedseveral times, that man’s differentiation in two sexes belongs to the Creator’s plan. Butthis differentiation does not mean being unequal, moreover the real equality can beaccomplished in matrimony. “The woman is equal with her husband, as regards herorigin and destination as well. The biblical verses explaining the origin of the womaninform us about this in a very suggestive way. The Creator God himself shows aspecially tender and chivalrous attitude when creating the woman.” The institution ofmatrimony is so strongly connected to society, that its crisis brings about the crisis ofsociety. First of all, because of one of its main aims – the procreation of children – therequirement of indissolubility is absolutely necessary. Naturally the acceptance ofchildren must be treated with a social sense, but we shouldn’t forget that here we haveto deal with God’s commandment.
