  Rezumat:  Genre is a framework able to facilitate a better understanding of literary works, a more clear perception of important details, a way of assessing credibility by tracking facts against assumptions when interpreting a particular work, of recognizing and responding to different literary techniques. Chosen unwisely, genre may turn out to be a limiting construct that impedes truth and understanding. On the other hand, appropriate classification of a literary text into the proper genre facilitates engagement in an informed reading process and may constitute a means of finding or constructing new meanings in the complex process of uncovering truth.
