  Rezumat:  Wealth - an Ideal of the Modern World. This study aims at describing the evolution of the idea of wealth in the mentalities of pre-modern and modern ages. The conclusion is that in pre-modern ages - antiquity, middle age - wealth was the aspiration of a small number of people. Starting with the modern age, wealth becomes a collective ideal, in the sense that, as Pierre de Boisquiebert pit it: "everybody wants to become reach and most of the people work day and night for it". The present study is part of a larger research project on The science of Producing Wealth.
