Rezumat: The Quality of Life within the Context of Environmental Decline (A Study Case: Copşa Mică Area). The Copşa Mică area, one of the most polluted sites of Europe, is characterized by a far advanced environmental decline that has been constraining the quality of life and the state of territorial system. This paper reveals the roots of the environmental decline and how this has generated an important depreciating of environmental quality and the parameters of human life in this area. The effects of environmental decline are manifested within the urban environment of the Copşa Mică town that leads to an important degradation of social and economical components. Four indicators: social, economic, health and environmental had been taken into account in the assessment of the quality of life. All indicators reflect the state of the area and on their basis we can predict the future evolution of the local community of Copşa Mică area. In addition, we have tried to establish a complex and relational indicator, which brings together various aspects of the urban life and environment. The purpose of this index is to provide a tool for community development, that can be used by decision-makers to monitor key indicator that encompass the social, health, environmental and economic dimensions of the quality of life here. That index could also be used in the further actions of territorial planning to improve the social and economical parameters of urban environment. |
