Rezumat: Could it be that human life is so uniform in the way we perceive “the other” that we limit ourselves to see it as plain and grey? Is everything coming to a bottom-line of acceptance, a tolerance born out of the curiosity of discovering the self by defining a foreign self? What is the purpose of the XXI century anthropology then? What can be defined as its subject in a period in which, apparently, the whole catalogue of subjects pertaining to anthropology closes in a checked and done, a closed road, where too many questions have been taken into discussion and answered to? Apparently everything that had to be said was already said therefore the subjects of anthropology have become a grey and uniform matter. But still there is an answer to the problem in question, brought forth by Donatella Schmidt, PhD. Prof. at the University of Padova, in the introduction of the anthology that raised our interest. The Anthropology of the XXI century has to become aware of the whole scale of diversity in matter of multicultural problems, such as: acceptance, tolerance, cohabitation with “the other”, which becomes an “other” time and time again, in the perspective of a reference point, at the same time fixed and always changing, inside a medley society, that had become grey as a whole, due exactly to the problems raised before, the other that constantly becomes another. |
