  Rezumat:   The analysis of child care and protection in the Old Testament seems to be an easy task for the researcher. In fact this subject opens us a broader horizon, therefore we are discussing not only about children, but about adults as well, about their familial, social, communal responsibility. Near the social and judiciary aspects of the childcare and protection we have to keep in mind the transcendental relationship of the man as God’s child. These perspectives make the subject much more complex.In my study I present the concept of childcare, protection and education as the known practice in the Old Testament. I put an accent on the importance of the sociological-ethical, judiciary and educational aspects of that ancient era, which knowledge unavoidable is concerning our Christian vocation, education and identity.We get a new perspective concerning the protection of the child. The child as the smallest member of the family or the community is an important link of the Judaic society. It’s importance is given by the context of the inter-generational relations. Therefore the child is seen not only as a fragile being among powerful parents and adults but as the bearer of the blessing of God, whose coram Deo status as much important is as the parent’s.
