Pastoral care and spiritual guidance from theological, philosophical and psychological point of view. Pastoral care and spiritual guidance – although focusing on different areas, are, according to our Christian concepts helping paths offered by the church for finding the meaning of life and faith. They could also turn into a tool of personal completion and self-expression. According to Firet the function of practical theology is none other than to „aid God’s approach to man through the service of human intermediation, actualizing Him in the world of the latter”. In order to meet this task, practical theology is an empirically oriented, mediatory, communicative, critical and active science, which, according to the author, also works backwards. In other words: the theory and praxis of practical theology as an intermediary, communicative, critical and active science facilitates/can facilitate the arrival of man to God, i.e. an arrival into a world, which for us always remains the fantastic blend of eternal challenge and certain pacification. This, however, must begin with a departure, which draws forth the eternal dilemma of the arrival. Both pastoral care and spiritual guidance have great possibilities in the elaboration of this dilemma.In a world where between the tension of rationality and emotionality who knows what happens and what could happen, a person practicing pastoral care and spiritual guidance and thus facilitating balance-building, could play an important role.
