Rezumat:  “They read from the Book of the Law of making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people could understand what was being read.” (Nehemiah 8:8.) “It is an often re-occurring question, what we should teach our children out of the great wealth of the Bible in order that they might get to know better and might understand the message of the Scriptures, and that it may become for them a reliable guide as a part of their lives. At this point we remark that Olst1 puts a great emphasis on the unity of the Scriptures might be made understandable. What does it mean for us and for our children? The question is of particular importance for teacher of religion in schools. Furthermore we face up the challenge every day, that we have to pass on the message of God: how it becomes a message for them indeed? The tension and dilemma of this challenge is always present. On the one hand I have to be aware of what my responsibility is, and what are the elements that are out of my control. We live in a world that forces us to do everything by ourselves. Even for Bible readers the words of King St. Stephen in the musical might be familiar. “With you, o Lord, but without you.” We do want to get the blessing of the Lord, and know about his presence in our need. But let him leave us unfold ourselves. We do know what we want, where we want to go, and what kind of successes we pursue. Often we think we are able to do it by ourselves. When failures come, than we come to our senses. What is the Word for children? With this question others also emerge: Who is God, who am I, who is the child? We are looking for replies to these questions: What is the main message (the key) of the biblical story? What are the focal points: to be according to Scripture and accommodate it to the child? These questions lead us to the question.
