Rezumat:  Contributions to the History of the Sephardic Jews from Craiova during the 19th and 20th Centuries. The Sephardic community of Craiova was one of the most important of its kind in Modern Romania, leaving behind a large amount of archives yet to be studied. Our paper deals with two main topics: its internal administration system and its religious institutions (the Rabi, the Temple, the religious societies). The internal administration developed in a modern form at the middle of the 19th century and, from that moment on, played a crucial role in holding together a community that had to face both the Ashkenazi demographical and economical pre-eminence and the issue of integration into the Romanian society. The religious institutions also helped strengthen the internal tides: the Rabies had been important personalities, called from outside the country, and the religious societies were been driven towards a constantly growing social involvement. Thus, the Sephardic community of Craiova was able to withstand its demographic recession until the end of the second World War, after which it melt down, along with the other Romanian Jewish communities, into the new organism brought into the scene by the communist regime.
