Rezumat:  The Bishop Andrei Saguna, “The King of The Romanians” at 1848. Undoubtedly the personality of Andrei Saguna exceeded his time and his open spirit lies for many years as a base of our Romanian orthodoxy. He was very popular and beloved by all Romanians both orthodox and greek-catholics, respected by authorities. If Simion Barnutiu was the ideologist of democratic revolution of Romanians and Avram Iancu the defender of the Romanians than Andrei Saguna was the brain, the politician of the Romanians. As a young bishop, after his consecration from Carloviţ he was welcomed to Sibiu as an “uncrowned king of the Romanians”. He was the leader of the National Assembly from Blaj from 3/15 May 1848. The necessity of a Romanian king followed from many testimonies of the Romanians during the investigation of Gubernial council from 1848. Not only a rumor but a state of spirit, this idea performed a central place in political and national thinking of the Romanians from Transylvania, and the main personality was Bishop Saguna.
