Rezumat: In a reasonable time from presenting the Ph.D. thesis in the field of History, under the aegis of “Babeş-Bolyai” University of Cluj Napoca, Nicolata Simona Marţian publishes her work starting with an eloquent quote from Quintilianus (I, 1, 8) – “The teacher’s word is like the sun which gives its light and heat to all” – also benefiting from a strong foreword (p. 9-10) owed to professor Nicolae Gudea, Ph.D., “Doktorvater” in this case. It is a research based on a coherent discourse, modern and useful from the historiographical perspective which addresses the main secular and Christian aspects of education in the Roman Empire during I-III centuries as we find out from a convincing Introduction (p.11-23). The overall structure of the paper, defined presented and rigorously structured on eight chapters, some more interesting than others in terms of documentary and interpretation, even if irregular in terms of the purpose of the scientific research, tends to persuade us by its neutral sequence of chapters. | |||||||
