Rezumat:  Anton Durcovici (1888–1951), Bishop of Iaşi (1947/1949), is well-known for the courageous testimony that he gave for the Christ and the Church, dying as martyr in the prison of Sighetu Marmaţiei, in the night of 10/11 December 1951. His activity as prefect of the future priests in “The Holy Spirit” Seminary of Bucharest is not well-known, even if he activated there 36 years. After ending his philosophical and theological studies at Rome, Anton Durcovici returned to Bucharest, where he worked as prefect, professor and rector of the Theological Academy of the Archdioceses of Bucharest. His contribution to the development of the theological studies was significant, even if the conditions were not permanently favourable. His firm commitment for the forming of the new priests was doubled by a deep devotion to the holy Mother of God that he cultivated since he was young and about that testified the people who knew him. The inheritance that the Bishop Anton Durcovici let us is that of being a model of a shepherd and educator.
