Rezumat: The Heritage of Hobbesian Social Contract Theory within Contemporary Organizational Theories. The Covenantal Leadership. This paper proposes to identify the fundamental concepts of the hobbesian social contract theory, with the aim of demonstrating its applicability in the contemporary organizational medium, in which the accent falls upon the organizational management style, on the qualities of a good or ideal manager, on the values and principles which must dominate his organizational behavior and upon his relationship with the employees. Although the essential hobbesian concepts can be found in any kind of organization, the original contractualist governance model is impossible to be applied exactly, at the level of a moral organization, defined as a shared micro-community and based on covenantal leadership. Keywords: social contract, hobbesian sovereign, covenantal leadership, morality, ethics, effective manager
