	Rezumat: This paper informs on the initial results of a survey carried out within the frame of a British Council project whose main aim is to provide professional and personal development to newly qualified teachers of English. The results of this research will help inform and focus the other three strands of the project by identifying who could be responsible for providing the support needed by newly qualified teachers of English and the forms in which these needs may be best met.
