  Rezumat:  It is a widely accepted fact that English has become the lingua franca of Europe: proof of its immense influence on several European languages is the large number of dictionaries recording Anglicisms in individual languages, as well as some recent lexicographical works giving a comparative overview of English loanwords in several languages; cf. A Dictionary of European Anglicisms. It has been argued, correctly, that English is an international language, as it is the language not only of popular culture and entertainment, but also of business and communication. It is widely used as one of the working languages of international organizations and it is commonly spoken at international conferences. Last but not least, it is the language of the Internet, the media, and the largest number of scientific publications. The book under review here is an analysis of Anglicisms in the Romanian economic press, with special focus on their evolution over a period of eight years (the years between 1998 and 2005) and their assimilation at the end of this period (the year 2005). The author concentrates on the manifestations of English loanwords as witnessed in the corpus of the Romanian financial and economic publication Capital.
