GEOLOGY AND THE HOHE TAUERN NATIONAL PARK, AUSTRIA. Autori: VOLKER HOECK. |
||||||
Rezumat: The Hohe Tauern National Park (HTNP) was founded formally in 1971 by an agreement among the Austrian Federal States (Bundesländer): Salzburg, Tyrol and Carinthia. It was established over several periods and reached its present size in 2001. From the beginning, the concept and the establishment of the national park were dominated by biologists with little interest in the non-living nature. Consequently, geology, mineralogy, petrography as well as glaciology and geomorphology played a minor role in the development of the Hohe Tauern National Park. This is at least partly due to the proportional division of scientific subjects among the three federal states. Unfortunately, the geoscientists familiar with the HTNP were working at the University in Salzburg, but for political reasons these topics had to be covered by scientists from Tyrol and Carinthia. Key words: national park, reservation, Hohe Tauern, Austria. |
