Rezumat: Geohazards and methods of their prediction are one of the most frequent topics in earth sciences of the last decade. Among the most dangerous geohazards influencing the human activity, there are the landslides associated to the seismic and volcanic active areas. Undoubtedly this kind of area is the Colca River valley located in the Central Andes in southern Peru (Fig. 1), with recent volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Numerous ground disturbances and deformations, landslide processes, mud-, debris- and mud-debris flows are characteristic for the area (Ocola and Gómez, 2007; Żaba and Małolepszy, 2008a, b). The geohazards caused by recent activity of faults and landslides are among the most common ones and the most dangerous for the local communities of the Colca River area. Key words: landslide geohazard, recent tectonic activity, Peru, Central Andes |
