  Rezumat:  The National Museum of Geology in Bucharest is a part of the Geological Institute of Romania. It was shortly opened to the public between 1990 and 1995 but had to be closed almost entirely until 2003. The credit for the conception of the museum goes to Prof. Marcian Bleahu, its first director. Organized like a book of geology, the permanent exhibitions, hosted in 20 galleries, illustrate the main areas of earth sciences: the planetary system, mineralogy, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic petrography, physical processes (fossilization, cave formation, soils, weathering), palaeobotanics, palaeontology, stratigraphy and evolution of life on Earth, the Black Sea, trace fossils, plate tectonics, geology of Romania, fluorescent minerals and spectacular minerals from famous mining areas in Romania. Currently a new concept of the museum is in progress. Within this concept, two permanent exhibitions, Fluorescent minerals and Gold of Romania have already been designed. The permanent exhibition of Ore deposits was temporarily moved to the Geology of Romania gallery and two other exhibitions are closed to the public in order to be reorganized (Non-metaliferous substances and Mineral waters).
