  Rezumat:  We have recently lost, prematurely, one of the great personalities of the Cluj Geology School. It is still hard to believe that Professor Petrescu is not among us anymore, when we think that he was an example of restless action and initiative. From the beginning of his teaching career, Professor Petrescu was proving a great potential. The elder professors were referring to him with admiration and, sometimes, with a touch of envy. And this was not without good reason: he got his PhD title before many of his elder colleagues, in a field that was not traditional in Cluj - paleobotany, a field of research that he subsequently developed via remarkable studies of paleodendrology and palynology.
