AIMS AND SCOPE

The journal offers space for academic endeavours on social issues in Central and Eastern Europe, welcoming multidisciplinary and comparative approaches in the fields of sociology, social work, social policies, anthropology, urban and rural studies.The core of each thematic issue is composed of research articles with empirical grounding. Methodological discussion papers and book reviews compose distinct sections. A special section entitled Romanian Sociology Today publishes recent research papers relevant for the state-of-art of sociology in Romania.

Studia UBB Sociologia was one of the first Sociology journals in Romania, fully published in English since 2008. The majority of articles are authored by Eastern European scholars who embrace a theoretically informed, empirically grounded, comparative and critical perspective on social changes in the region.

Receipt of the articles, information about copyright

Submission:
The articles can be written in English. Before being accepted for publication, the articles must be sent at the address: studiasociology@gmail.com, respecting the format and the announced deadline.

Previously published articles are not accepted for publication. Manuscripts cannot be submitted elsewhere for publication while in review for Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Sociologia, although manuscripts may be deposited on a preprint server.
After receiving a manuscript, the editorial board notifies by e-mail the author in about two weeks on the acceptance for review of the text or its rejection. The editorial board will reject papers that fail to meet academic standards in terms of scientific content and the quality of writing in English. Papers accepted by the editorial board go through a double-blind review process (see review form) that may last several weeks. Papers advised to be rewritten and re-submitted go through a second review. Accepted papers are edited by the journal to meet technical standards. English proofreading and the content of the articles are the entirely authors’ own responsibility.

Issues, Deadlines:
The journal is published semesterly in June and December.
The paper submission for the Studia UBB Sociologia volumes are programmed as follow:

- For the first number the deadline for the receiving of the studies is 30th of April;
- For the second number we accept the studies up to 30th of October.

Prevention and Fight against Plagiarism and other forms of fraudulent conduct:
Authors of the journal must be aware and understand that Studia Universitatis Babeș-Bolyai intends to prevent, and also sanctions attempts and acts of plagiarism and other forms of fraudulent conduct, including but not limited to the fabrication and/or falsification of data. Therefore, authors are hereby advised that:
– Plagiarism attempts or other fraudulent actions discovered and documented during the review process (Editorial Office, peer review) may lead to: a) rejection of the manuscript for publication; b) official information of the higher education or research institution of the author’s affiliation; and c) information of the scholarly community and public opinion.
– Upon notification on allegation of plagiarism or other fraudulent actions for any article that has been already published in Studia Universitatis Babeș-Bolyai, and following the thorough verification of the notification, the Editorial Office may take the following steps: a) contact the Index of allegations of plagiarized works in Romania; b) follow the procedure in place for plagiarism attempts or other fraudulent actions discovered and documented during the review process; c) officially inform the higher education or research institution of the author’s affiliation, making available all necessary documents (including the author’s responsible declaration of originality); d) advise the most important international databases about the allegation of plagiarism; and e) publish (on the site, etc.) its official position on the matter.
