Abstract:  This article takes up the difficult task of translation of Lucian Blaga’s (1895-1961) poems entitled În marea trecere (« Au fil du grand parcours »). Lucian Blaga was a philosopher, and his poetry, different from pure rhetoric, is the carrier of a spirituality rejecting a religion of the abstract and being nostalgic of ages when Divinity was giving concrete signs to humans. This translation has been made according to a personal taste and to a great admiration for this Romanian author. In the first part, the article presents our methodological and practical choices. My attempt to translate Blaga’s poems has not been the only one. Thus, I have tried to study the translations made on the same poems and the difficulties encountered by other translators, in the second part of the article.

Keywords: Blaga, philosophy, religion, Romanian poetry, style, translation.
