	Abstract: The present paper intends to be an analytical-descriptive endeavour of canons as poetical forms. In other words, it aims at including the purpose, the importance and the creation of the canon in the cult. It also analyses the first Ode of the Easter Canon by taking into consideration its biblical and patristic sources and its poetic and thematic structure.
