Abstract:  Settlement of the Slavs into the Balkan Peninsula and First State Organizations. Christianization of Serbia. Establishment of the First Bishops and Metropolitan Churches. The Serbian Orthodox Church, before the appearance of Saint Sava, was not organized in the real sense of the word. Although the Slavic tribes had already begun to accept Christianity by the time they arrived in the Balkans, it isn’t fully embraced until the IXth century upon the appearance of Saint Cyril and Methodius and their disciples. With the invention of the Slavic alphabet, by the translation of religious books in the Slavonic language and their integration in religious sermons, the two brothers Cyril and Methodius and their disciples, set up the Christian Church and became the forerunners of Saint Sava’s activity.
