Abstract:  This article is an attempt to answer the question: why the creed, why the symbol of faith? Which is its purpose for the Christian life? According to the Gospels, during His activities on Earth, Our Savior Jesus Christ often asked the people He healed to first give state their faith. In the Holy Bible faith is the ultimate and complete answer given by man to God’s call. In order to acquire, confess or pass on the right faith, the truth of the Revelation, crystallized in the Apostolic Tradition and then settled in the Holy Scripture was formulated by the Early Church in various symbols of faith that were found both in the Eastern and Western world. In the 4th century, the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed becomes the creed of the Church, through which the believers understand the content of the Revelation. The creed states, in a synthetic manner, the mystery of God and of His redemptive work and, through it, the Christians express their final attachment to God.

Keywords: Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed, Confession, Faith, Early Christian Creeds.
