Abstract:  The Re-history of the "Matthean Community" in the Context of the first Judeo-Christian Relationships. The present study is an attempt to organize some reflections about the Matthean community commencing from the social-scientific approach to the problem of the nature and the status of the group to whom this Gospel was addressed. In the beginning, the problem of the ethnical identity was identified. After this, the tension between the various factions was taken again into consideration. At first, the tensions between the “Matthean community” and the Judaic one and, then, the tensions between the Mattheans and the Pharisees. The latter one was analyzed as follows: 1. The ethnical religious identity of the “Matthean community” 2. Social tensions, the Common Judaism and the problem of the Jews 3. The conflict between the Pharisees and the “Matthean community” The frictions between the Mattheans and the Judaic community seemed, in general, rather low both before and after 70; however, the relationship of the Mattheans and the other Pharisees were more negative and more complex, registering a considerable increase after AD 70.

Keywords: Matthean Community, Judeo-Christian Relationships, 1st century, tension.
