Abstract:   The Crismon Typology and Its Evolution. The Crismon, the personal symbol of Jesus Christ, had a proper typology. Our study desires to clarify this typology much more because the specialists’ opinions in this field are different and they don’t have anything in common. And it is true there are few opinions, because just a few specialists studied this problem. We realised, after having analysed an important number of objects painted with crismon, that its typology is very complex. We included in the main typology the complex crismon, the simple crismon, the crismon with the horizontal bar. In the secondary typology, we included the complex crismon with the horizontal bar, the simple crismon with the horizontal bar and the latinized crismon. The thrid category, of the differents types, is very numerous, because there are many forms. In all these types of crismon, we tried to identify the most important. The most important conclusion is that the crismon has the most developped typology. Through this study we show the importance it rejoyced of until the 7th century.
