  Abstract:  Possibilité et passivité dans la théorie aristotélicienne de l’intellect. Notre étude concerne une réévaluation de la célèbre théorie du De anima, III, 4-5 du point de vue d’une distinction qui provient des commentaires grecs et arabes de Jean Philopon et Averroès, entre la passivité et la possibilité de l’intellection. En analysant la trajectoire historique de notre thème, nous avons avancé l’hypothèse que la tradition des commentaires latins chrétiens (notamment celui de saint Thomas) a effacé le problème des anciens commentateurs et a donné une nouvelle ligne d’interprétation au texte d’Aristote, étrangère par rapport au texte, dont l’héritière est l’exégèse courante du De anima.
