  Abstract:  Cet article se propose, en soulignant les multiples allusions implicites au reste des dialogues platoniciens, de mettre en lumière la manière avec laquelle Platon se joue autour de la production rhétorique de son temps. On croit aussi que la perspective historique sur l’epitaphios logos (qui suit le commentaire) apporte une grande aide dans la compréhension de la thématique mise en jeu dans ce dialogue, de sa structure et de ses intentions.
