  Abstract:  The scientific work named "Philosophy and teachers of philosophy at Blaj (1772-1848)" presents, generally, the history and the importance of systematically teaching philosophy in spiritual capital of Greek- Catholic Romanians, according to following criteria: organizational forms (Schola altiores, theological seminar, respectively academic high-school by university level), the scientific and didactical sources utilized (Baumeister, Krug), the language (Latin, until 1834, respectively 1839, Romanian after that date). The author insisted on the fact that scientific and didactical activity of philosophy teachers from Blaj – especially Samuel Micu, Petru Maior, Simion Bărnuţiu, T. Cipariu, Aron Pumnul – had an essential contribution on formatting the social category of Romanian intellectual, which was, through philosophy, in the service of Romanian nation and its culture. Even that this activity was not the result of an absolute philosophical originality, it manifested into Romanian culture as an original intellectual factor, by pioneering. In the same time, it means an intervention of philosophy, respectively of rational thinking, on spiritual and political life of those involved in this process and, through them, of all generation which benefit by its services.
