Abstract: The best conceivable stable tracers of water are represented by the isotopes of the constitutive atoms of the water molecule 18O and D (1,2). If the isotope content changes along ground water path, it will reflect the history of the water. On the contrary, if the isotope content does not change within the aquifer, it will reflect the origin of the water. Origin deals with location, period and processes of recharge and history deals with mixing, salinity and discharge processes (1). | |||||||
