VIEW PDF: ON THE STRUCTURE AND STABILITY OF NEUTRON STARS

The structure of Neutron Stars (NS) is still unclear and for this reason this paper serves as an attempt to couple the Tolman-Oppenheimer-Volkoff (TOV) equations with a polytropic Equation of State (EoS). For different EoS models coupled with the relativistic TOV equations it could be calculated the critical mass and radius for a neutron star, underlining consequences of the type of EoS used on the mass-radius stable configurations of the NS. Another briefly investigated topic in this paper is to see if the positive cosmological constant bears any role in the evolution of the neutron star.
