  Article:   XPS AND XRD INVESTIGATION OF IRON DOPED NANOCRYSTALLINE HYDROXYAPATITE.

  Abstract:  This paper reports on some properties of pure and iron doped samples of hydroxyapatite composition prepared by coprecipitation method. The samples were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and powder X-ray diffraction (XRD). The XPS results show on surface of both undoped and iron doped samples a Ca/P atomic ratio close to 1.67 typical for hydroxyapatite. According to XRD results, the addition of 0.1 wt % Fe2O3 promotes in the sample of pure hydroxyapatite composition the growth of nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite.
