L’écrivain français, Jean-Pierre Martin a été ré-compensé, au long de sa carrière litté-raire, avec plusieurs distinctions : Prix Rhône-Alpes du Livre 1994 pour son essai Henri Michaux, écritures de soi, expatriations, Prix Louis-Barthou de littérature générale de l’Académie fran-çaise, en 2004, pour sa biographie sur Henri Michaux, Le Grand prix de la critique dans le cadre du prix Renaudot 2006 pour son essai Le Livre des hontes, tandis que le roman Les Liaisons ferroviaires (2011) se retrouve dans la Sélection prix France-Culture / Télérama. Il est aussi le lauréat de la Bourse Cioran 2019 pour son essai La Curiosité, Une raison de vivre. En 2020, il figure sur la liste du Prix Goncourt et sur celle du Prix Médicis avec le roman intitulé Mes fous.
