Abstract:  Sources of Knowledge in Press. About the “conditionnel journalistique”. This article approaches the notion of “journalistic” conditional as a verbal form specific to the grammatical category of evidentiality. This category characterizes particularly the journalistic discourse and is, at the same time, an evidential and a modal marker. It reveals not only the journalist’s source, but also the locutor’s attitude (neutral distance, doubt, rejection, irony etc.), thus constituting an argumentative strategy.
