Abstract:  If our previous readings have not yet given us the possibility to get acquainted with theories such as New Historicism or with the idea of an inevitable historical relativism, Lucian Boia’s Germanophiles is certainly an exquisite way to start. For those who have already tasted Foucault’s texts or, more recently Stephen Greenblatt’s, the present book will not let them down. Although Lucian Boia’s research field does not regard the cultural or the literary studies, his perspective upon history and the adjacent discourses resonates strongly with Foucault’s concepts and with Greenblatt’s skepticism regarding the existence of a unique, homoge¬nous and unalterable historical truth.
