  Article:   THE MISSION OF THE FIRM - A KEY SUBJECT OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT.

  Abstract:  The Mission of the Firm - A Key Subject of Strategic Management. The questions raised by managers at the organisational level are: - What business are we in? - Why are we in that business? The answer for the first question leads at the mission of the firm. The second question involves establishment of the objective what has to be taken into consideration. Both questions helps for defining the nature of business and for creating a frame for analysing the firm environment, for development and selection of various strategies. If the mission is not correct formulated and is not permanently adapted at the changes environment, this process may lead the firm on a wrong direction, damaging the results. Also, if the mission is too simple (for example - only obtaining a profit) it will reduce the managers ability for looking new alternatives for the decision process and therefore they can ignore some factors which can lead to succes and ultimately, the decision loose in eficiency.
