  Abstract:  The autonomous student of economics will become a better specialist if he is encouraged to analyse his needs and set his own goals as a language learner and future user of English in his own professional field. By becoming aware of learning strategies in particular, and strategies in general, the business student reflects critically on the material he learns and produces appropriate judgements that will help him progress from content to context, from the user of individual learning strategies to the performer of the social role of the learner.
