Abstract:  Virgil Vătăşianu and Romanian Medieval Archaeology. On the occasion of the centenary of the great art historian Virgil Vătăşianu (1902-1993), professor with the University of Cluj, it is high time to reevaluate his scientific contribution to the field of world and Romanian historical research. Among others, he had brought a decisive contribution to the development of Romanian medieval archaeology by participating in the organization of several archaeological excavations (for instance, in the Suceava Seat, etc.) and, at the same time, by enhancing the contribution of archaeology to historical research.
