  Abstract:  Colecţia de manuscrise a Bibliotecii Brukenthal, respectiv fondurile epistolare, constituie o sursă valorosă de informaţii privind istoria instituţiei, evoluţia acesteia, schimbarea canoanelor ce au stat la baza prezentării colecţiilor. Dintre scrisorile interesante pentru istoricii de artă am publicat până în prezent corespondenţa lui Coriolan Petranu cu Michael Csaki, custodele galeriei de artă între 1895 şi 1927, şi scrisori ale istoricului de artă Theodor von Frimmel cu acelaşi custode. Recent, am descoperit un număr de 122 de scrisori din intervalul 1893 şi 1944, de astă dată fiind vorba, în principal, de scrisori primite de Michael Csaki şi apoi de directorul Rudolf Spek (director între 1928-1948) de la artişti saşi sau de răspunsuri expediate de custozi. În cele ce urmează va fi vorba despre un număr restrâns de epistole, dar semnificative pentru ceea ce doresc să demonstrez.
