Abstract:  Regardings concerning Bistriţa’s architecture in the 16th – 17th Centuries. In Transylvania’s architectural history, Bistriţa plays an important part, having a very important civil and religious architectural patrimony. The historical data, on which we can analyze the urban evolution of the city, as well as the aesthetic principles of the development, are completed by the style analysis of historical buildings still standing, and with information from the city plans. In this regard, there are used the plans from: “Visconti Portfolio”, “City Plan from 1850”, “City Plan from 1913”, “City Plan from 1940” and “City Plan from 2003”. Bistrita’s quarry elements were thoroughly investigated in the 7th decade of the 20th century, and published together with a complete style evolution, but, in 2004, when the List of Historical Monuments was drawn up, there were identified new quarry details that prove the importance of Renaissance aesthetic influence. The regardings concerning the functions and aesthetic looks of Bistrita’s urban evolution clears up the general problem of Transylvanian urbanism, preserved until today in the old Saxons burgs in an immaculate shape.
