  Abstract:

Statistical Modelling of Mean Annual Temperatures at Iasi Meteorological Station since 1894. The scope of our paper resides within the context of the present global warming process. Our paper attempts to model the evolution of mean annual temperatures recorded at Iasi meteorological station during the 1984-2007 period, using statistical methods, namely the regression analysis, spectral density analysis and Fourier analysis. Three different models are compared, departing from different assumptions regarding the warming process: a regression models assuming that the atmospheric CO2 increase is the main cause of the global warming, a Fourier model assuming that the warming process is part of a long period climatic cycle and a hybrid model, using both trend and cyclic components, assuming that the warming process is the result of a non-periodic disturbance of the climate system.

Keywords: temperature time series, regression, spectral density, Fourier components.
