  Abstract:  New Challenges for the FLT: Initiatives of the Council of Ministers regarding the Implementation of a European Language Portofolio. În cadrul Anului European al Limbilor Comitetul de Miniştri al Consiliului Europei a solicitat guvernelor statelor participante să încurajeze dezvoltarea şi utilizarea unui document personal numit Portofoliu Lingvistic European (European Language Portofolio) în toate domeniile educaţionale. Acest document urmează să sintetizeze şi să înregistreze calificările lingvistice împreună cu alte experienţe culturale, să fie recunoscut în toate ţările europene şi ca atare să contribuie la ameliorarea calitativă şi cantitativă a procesului de învăţare a limbilor străine. Elaborarea Portofoliului urmăreşte de asemenea internaţionalizarea, uniformizarea, standardizarea, armonizarea pregătirii profesionale, lingvistice şi a evaluării rezultatelor acestui demers.
