Abstract:  Rewriting, Interpretation and Monstrous Distortion of the Human Being, Character of the Post-modern Theatre. The article aims at challenging the spectator to look closer to the reevaluation of “classical” texts, by two of our contemporary playwrights, who continue the story of Ibsen’s Nora (Elfriende Jelinek), respectively that of Molière’s Avare (Pascal Vrebos). What does the recycling of a famous text mean? And if bringing it into the contemporary world automatically confronts us to a subjective interpretation, and often – as it is the case here – to a distortion, how should we deal with the primary text and its revisited continuations?

Keywords: Elfriende Jelinek, Pascal Vrebos, feminism, distorsion, postmodernism
