  Abstract:

This paper presents the experimental data obtained in absorption process of SO2 into limestone suspensions. The absorption experiments have been performed in a 0.75 L reactor, fitted with mechanical stirring, at temperature of 293, 303 and 313 K. The consistency of limestone slurry expressed as solid-liquid ratio was: R1=1/30; R2= 1/15; R3=1/10 and R4= 1/7.5. The influence of the limestone content in the initial slurry and the operating temperatures on the total absorption capacity were determined and analyzed. The obtained results, absorption capacity between 0.49 - 2.14 mol SO2/L slurry, are comparable with those reported by other authors.

Keywords: absorption, wet desulphurization, calcium carbonate slurry
