Abstract:  The electrochemical behaviour of the dissolved and polymer entrapped trans-bis-(trialcoxi)-hexavanadate (trans-BTHV) was studied by cyclic voltammetry performed at glassy carbon and carbon paste electrodes, in different experimental conditions (potential scan rate and pH). The free trans-BTHV showed a one pair of well defined peaks, corresponding to a 5 electrons quasi-reversible redox process. In the pH range 4.5 to 7 the voltammetric response of trans-BTHV, immobilized in AQ 55D polymer, consisted in two waves: a first one of 5 electrons at 0.15 V/SCE and a second one of 1 electron at –0.075 V/SCE (pH 6). In both cases, the dependence of peak current intensity on the potential scan rate proved that the redox process was controlled by diffusion.
