  Abstract:  The book is dedicated to synthetic description of soil investigations performed during many years in the tundra, forest-tundra and north-taiga zones of the Kola Peninsula. A great number of soil profiles and samples were studied in the three zones, namely 45, 21 and 62 profiles, and 184, 56 and 171 samples, respectively. The profiles are located on Russian territories, with the exception of 10 profiles located on the north-taiga zone in Norway. In the area of all profiles botanical studies were also conducted. The soil samples were submitted to complex microbiological, enzymological and chemical analyses.
