  Abstract:  

Clients with Psychosomatic Symptoms in Spiritual Counseling. The study hereby gives a short review of the history and development of psychosomatics, of the manner in which the view of connection between body and soul was formed, of what the attitude of medicine towards clients with psychosomatic disorder was earlier and what the attitude of medicine is today. Then the every day symptoms are enumerated and also the ones that are considered psychosomatic symptoms by the DSM-IV. Finally several therapy methods used to treat symptoms are presented also dealing with their applicability in spiritual counseling. Family therapy, a method which has proven the most effective for clients with psychosomatic symptoms, is discussed in detail, then several common practices are enumerated, which can be performed by anybody without having to have a specialist present and which can bring relief as far as symptoms are concerned.
