Abstract:  Luther: Laudation of Music. The weakening of the authority of catholic church in the 16th century was one of the most important events in the history of France, Germany and Great Britain of this period. These events had major consequences on the music of the above mentioned period. The music used in the different new religious communities was mostly determined by the personality of it’s leaders. This paper will present an overview of the music of protestant communities of the 16th century, considering the influences of religious leaders like John Calvin, Martin Luther, Johann Walter, György Maróthi and Albert Szenci Molnár.
