  Abstract:  The Bible – Helpful Instrument in Literary Translations. A case: In Limine of Eugenio Montale, Translated into Romanian by Rosa del Conte, Dragoş Vrânceanu and Marian Papahagi. The biblical intertext is widely present in literature; therefore the translator of a literary text should have knowledge of the Bible in both languages in order to convey most of the semantic echoes to the reader. The translation of the Bible in Romanian accompanied the history of our language having a fundamental role in its formation. The article focuses on revealing the importance of the choice of biblical terms in the translations when biblical intertext is involved in the original text, so that the original intent of the author might meet the reader’s sensibility. The Italian poem In Limine by Eugenio Montale is quite rich in matter of biblical intertextuality. Three well-appreciated Romanian translators (Rosa del Conte, Dragoş Vrânceanu and Marian Papahagi) are the object of this study. The comparison of the specific terms will introduce the reader to notice the importance of certain translation choices that allow the penetration of the poet’s intentionality and aesthetic.
